Redeemer Celtic went 3 points clear at the top of the league with a hard won 3-2 victory over Fane F.C. maintaining their 100% league record, from 5 games played. Adam Lennon with his first goal of the season put Redeemer ahead after 21 minutes much to the delight of the large home following. In the 33rd minute Fane had a great chance to equalise from the penalty spot, but blasted wide, leaving the Gorman Park side hanging in their slender lead right up to the break.
With both sides playing a good passing game, Robbie Duffy struck for Fane in the 50th minute to level the match. Seven minutes later Brian McKevitt put Fane ahead for the first time in the game. On the hour mark a mistake by the Fane keeper was punished by the alert Andy Lennon to level the score again, Redeemer nosed in front again in the 66 th minute when Andy McDermott notched his second goal in two games. Despite losing Brian McGuirk, for a second yellow card, the 10 men of Fane battled hard to the final whistle to salvage at least a point. The two sides will meet again next week in the return League fixture and an even bigger crowd will be there to witness another thrilling encounter.
