Bellurgan United kept their hopes of finishing second in the Premier League very much alive with a facile 8-2 victory over Fane F.C. in Flynn Park. The second spot now rest between Rock Celtic on 23 points and Bellurgan on 20 points.
Peter Fisher with the 4th strike of the season broke the deadlock after 15 minutes to put the home side ahead. Five minutes later Blake Stevens had Fane back on level terms. On the half hour mark Luke Higgins, the club’s top scorer this season, had Bellurgan ahead again. Dermot Traynor with his 1st goal of the campaign stretched the lead further, before Shane O’Brian swept in to register his 7th strike of the season to give the Flynn Park side a 4-1 half-time lead.
Ten minutes into the second half Luke Higgins struck again, his 8th goal for the club, to make it 5-1. Within minutes Shane Touhy better his debut goal of the campaign with the home-sides 6th goal. Sean Bailey pulled one back for Fane with his 5th strike so far, but two late scores from Kian Long sealed a very convincing win for Bellurgan.
